Places

Places help you remember where you’ve been. Some places are added automatically, and others you choose to add.

Updated over a month ago

Your map has a memory, and places help it tell the story.

Places turn your map into more than dots and streets. They help you look back on the spots you actually spent time, the places you keep coming back to, and the routines that make up your day.

Why places matter

With places, you can:

  • keep track of where you’ve been without having to remember every detail

  • build a more personal map over time as you discover your world

  • see places in different ways depending on what they are (public places, personal places, and custom places)

Types of places

Places you add

Other places can show up after you’ve spent a bit of time somewhere. When that happens, Bump may suggest places nearby, or you can add your own custom place.

Places Bump adds automatically

Bump automatically detects home and work from your location history. These work differently from other places because you don’t manually add them. On iOS, your work is set using the address saved in your iOS profile.

How places you've visited show

Depending on the type of place, you might see them:

  • on your map

  • on your profile, visible to friends and other users on Bump

  • as a badge on your pin

  • when searching
