The two places you're most likely to be? Bump usually figures them out for you. Nothing needed on your end!
How Bump detects them
Home: appears after spending several consecutive nights.
Work: where you regularly go during the day.
On iOS, we use the work address saved in your iOS settings to place your work marker.
On Android, we don't currently detect or display your workplace.
How they show on the map
Home and work appear as pins on your pin.
Your home pin always appears on your own map, even when you're not there.
Your friends can see you're at home or work only when you're actually there.
Your exact address is never shared with friends.
When they appear
Home: appears after you spend several consecutive nights in one location.
Work: may take up to 2 weeks to show.
If you move or change routines, updates usually take a few days.
If a place is mislabeled, it normally corrects itself after a few days of regular activity.
Issues? Make sure airplane mode is not enabled and that your location permissions are set correctly, see Set up app permissions for Bump.
Don't confuse Home with Nights
Nights are a separate from your home. Nights are where you've spent the night and are not necessarily your home. For example, a friend's house or a hotel on holiday.
You can have many nights across different locations.
Your nights always appear on your own scratch map.
Friends can only see a night if they spent that same night with you at that location.
A night place can become your home if you stay there for several nights in a row. If that happens, your usual home will become your home again after you spend a couple of nights there.
Good to know
You can only have one home, but many nights.
You cannot delete or hide your home.
If your home is slightly off, you can drag it to correct its position.
If you work night shifts, your workplace may be detected as your home. We know about this, and working on making this better.
