Location and real-world safety

Updated over 3 months ago

We want you to feel safe while using Bump to share your location, make plans, and connecting in real life.

What this covers

This applies across the entire app, everyone and everywhere. Some examples: using the friend map and scratch map, meet-up planning and gatherings, any request for live location, personal details, or off-platform contact.

What this means

  • always treat location sharing as mutual and voluntary

  • on the friend map or scratch map, never pressure anyone to reveal their live location, nights, or other sensitive details

  • be cautious about moving conversations to other platforms

  • use tools like ghost mode, block, and report if someone makes you uncomfortable

This list isn't exhaustive. If something could create a negative experience or break this policy, we'll take action.

How we take action

  1. We remove the content

  2. We may limit features like chat or visibility

  3. We may temporarily or permanently suspend an account

  4. We may escalate credible threats to appropriate authorities

How to report

If you see content that violates this policy, you can report it directly in the app. We review all reports and take appropriate action to keep Bump safe for everyone.
