Why didn’t a visit show up as a place?

If a visit didn’t appear, it may have been too brief, hard to detect, or previously skipped.

Sometimes the map misses a moment. Here’s why.

What to check

  • you were only there briefly and didn’t really settle in. Places are for stops where you spent a little bit of time, not a run-in to grab a burger and dip

  • your GPS signal was weak or jumpy, so your phone’s location points couldn’t be grouped cleanly

  • you’ve skipped visits in that same area before. If you skip the same spot a couple times, we’ll stop prompting to ask if you’ve been there

  • the location is very large (parks, hotels, museums, campuses, festivals), and your visit may have landed outside the saved place radius

What you can do

  • If you don’t see a visit, unfortunately there is a no way currently to force it to appear retroactively. But stay tuned - we’re constantly working on new features and improvements to the experience!

  • If you’re tagging and the right place isn’t listed, you can add it yourself by scrolling to the bottom of the suggested list and choosing the option to add a custom place
